Historic Ann Arbor Montage Poster
September 5, 2008
The
Ann Arbor Area Chamber of
Commerce is selling copies of a new historical montage that
depicts some of Ann Arbor's most noteworthy businesses and
people.
Among those included: Ann Arbor founder John Allen, NFL
quarterback Tom Brady and local legend Shakey Jake.
The poster
is published by
Community
Creations of Columbus, Ohio and was drawn by artists Bruce
Loeschen of Minnesota and Rob Zell-Breier of Florida. It went on
sale last week.
About 100 local businesses paid a sponsorship fee to Community
Creations to be included on the poster. About 1,500 prints were
made, roughly 1,200 of which are for sale. The prints cost $10 for
chamber members and $15 for nonmembers.
"This evolved rapidly into a method where civic organizations in
a community can put together a piece that's kind of a time capsule
in art, and use it for fundraising," said Joe Genco, president of
Community Creations.
Genco said the project took about eight months to complete. It
included mapping and photography of local landmarks, so Loeschen
and Zell-Breier could draw the poster without ever setting foot in
Ann Arbor.
$10 Chamber members / $15 Non-members
