Get to Know Your Chamber Board

Laurel is Publisher of The Ann Arbor News, Ann Arbor Business Review and Oakland Business Review. Prior to becoming Publisher, Champion was Assistant to the Publisher at The News. She follows in the footsteps of her father and late grandfather, both publishers at The Syracuse Post-Standard, where she started her newspaper career at age 15. Champion serves on the Boards of Ann Arbor SPARK and COPE (Center for Occupational and Personalized Education), along with her seat on the Ann Arbor Chamber Board.

Applications are being accepted for the 2008-2009 Class

 

Do you want to make lifelong connections in your community? Have you ever wanted to get firsthand knowledge of downtown economic development? Ever been on a ride along with an Ann Arbor police officer or gotten a tour of the City's recycling center? If you are looking for a way to connect with other leaders in Ann Arbor, enrolling in the Leadership Ann Arbor program is worth considering.

 

Once the class is full, applicants will have to wait another year so don't delay submitting your Leadership Ann Arbor application. A limited number of partial scholarships are available.

 
The 2008-09 application deadline is August 29, 2008.

Sponsored by Eastern Michigan University and supported by the Michigan Association of Colleges and Employers. The Michigan Collegiate Job Fair is held in the Spring and Fall of each year. This fair is open to graduating seniors and recent alumni from two or four year institutions. Don't forget to bring plenty of resumes!

Trade & Transportation: Michigan's Road to Prosperity

The Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce, together with the MSU International Business Center and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce have partnered to sponsor this important event. This is the first of four half-day events being developed to assist regional businesses identify and develop business opportunities in global markets.

Keynote Speaker: Thomas J. Donohue, President & CEO, U.S. Chamber of Commerce
Thomas J. Donohue has served as President and CEO of the U.S. Chamber since 1997.  During that time he has been credited with building the Chamber into a lobbying and political force with expanded influence across the globe.  He has established the U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform, which has won significant legal reforms in the court, at the state and federal levels, and in elections for state attorneys general and Supreme Court judges.

Tickets are $50 per person and includes lunch.

If you are launching a startup and need people to help you, come to this high energy event. You can have 1 minute to tell about your business and what kind of help you are seeking, (advisory board member, co-founder, employee that is willing to work for stock, consultant, etc.) followed by a networking session. You will also have the opportunity to complete an interest form, where you can share your contact information with as many startups as you'd like - think speed dating for startups!

To participate, send a one paragraph description of your business concept, along with a description of the talent that you are seeking, to Amy Cell by Tuesday, March 25th. Spaces are limited, so please sign up early!
